About a month ago I took Andy to the doctors because he had been throwing up on a constant basis. The poor little boy was blowing chunks everywhere we went. When we got there the doctor became alarmed that he had lost 7 pounds over the course of about 3 months. She sent him for x-rays and blood work. He was a little scared during the x-ray and I don't blame him it was a huge machine for a tiny little guy. Then we went over to blood work and that was a horrible nightmare. Horrible. They poked him several times, collapsed one of his veins, and blood was starting to get on me and him. He was screaming and kicking. I just finally decided to call it quits. We made an appointment to go up to Primary Children's and get the blood work done there. He knew where he was and he was very brave, he cried a little but he didn't fight it, he was just brave.
Lately, I've noticed that he has become a cautious little guy. He's very worried about getting hurt. He used to go on the McDonalds big slide and now he wont even climb into it. The other day he asked me to "catch him" off the baby slide that was less than a foot. It kind of breaks my heart that he's been through so much that he worries so much. But yesterday, when I went to pick him up from preschool he wasn't doing what he usually does; just standing around nervously. Instead this time he was having a blast!!! He was playing T-ball and running around the little bases and into home base. He was so excited that his teachers had to calm him down and make him wait his turn. He was putting his whole little heart into hitting that ball. He'd get so excited when he hit it he'd run around in circles and completely forget to run to all the bases. It made me so happy to watch him. It made my whole month. To see my son so happy and living and playing so hard. You know on the movie 'Fried Green Tomatoes" how Kathy Bateman says 'tawanda'? As he was playing baseball I kept thinking 'taAndy!!!!' He's an amazing little guy and I'm so proud of him. I'm going to sign him up for a little baseball league.
